A South Sudanese tourist has stirred reactions after declaring that her trip to Nigeria helped her overcome her mental health struggle with depression.
In a now-viral video, an unidentified woman shared her emotional transformation, encouraging others struggling with mental health issues in her country to consider visiting Nigeria.
“Guys, you’re not depressed — you just need to travel to Nigeria. I thought I was depressed, but the moment I booked a flight to Nigeria, the depression vanished,” she said with genuine excitement.
Her heartfelt declaration, delivered with visible joy, has sparked a wave of mixed reactions among Nigerian social media users — from national pride to skepticism. Many were taken aback by the unexpected praise.
Reactions from Nigerians:
-
@insanespotter wrote: “People from other African countries always enjoy their time in Nigeria; no one ever calls it boring. But some Nigerians, due to their dislike for certain individuals, keep tarnishing the image of their own country.”
-
@coachbenjamin_ commented: “You mean the Nigeria I’m living in? Please don’t try it.”
-
@donpanacio added: “I’ll keep saying it — the best promoters of Nigeria are non-Nigerians living abroad! As they say, you don’t value what you have. A growing economy like Nigeria, with its massive population, isn’t a curse — it’s an opportunity for smart people!”
